As spring break quickly approaches, students and faculty are doing various things during spring break. Answers range from catching some sun domestically and overseas to working, helping people, and competing in sports.

Cadence Roberts, a freshman at Curry College majoring in Nursing, is visiting Florida to see her family. Cadence is one of many that will be heading to Florida.

Mia Bianchi, a sophomore majoring in Sports and Recreation Management, will be heading there for athletics.

“I’m going to Florida with the softball team.” Bianchi said. She is hoping the softball team will do well.

Sarah Mendes, a junior Public Health major, intends to get some studying done.

“I will work on any assignments and projects over break,” Mendes said.

Andres Castro is a freshman majoring in Communication and he will be going south of the border.

“I will head back home in Mexico to spend time with my family,” said Castro.

Communication students taking the nationally award-winning RED Film Production course, will be making their movie on campus while students are away. Shooting begins mid-week. Film professor, Jean-Paul DiSciscio said it will be a horror genre film.

Global and Career Service workers at the school will be working hard over the spring break. Corynne Stollerman, who works at Global and Career Services, said events in the pipeline will keep everyone busy.

“We’ll be hard at work finalizing plans for the Career and Internship fair on April 3rd,” said Stollerman.

Joanne Farley, Assistant Director for Global and Career services, said some students will participate in Study Abroad trips.

“I will be here working, but we are sending a group of students to London plus one to Ireland for short term faculty led travel courses,” Farley said.

Diane Goulder, Office Coordinator of Student Activities, said an Alternative Spring Break event will be accomplished in Kissimmee, Florida. The school will do a service collaboration effort to “give kids the world.” “Give Kids the World” wishes to give terminally ill children and their families services, partnered with the Make a Wish foundation.

The event will have seven students alongside two chaperones. The Alternative break is not the first time for the school as it is part of a tradition every spring break.
