After the exciting announcement of the new logo to the Curry community, there were many changes made around campus giving us the opportunity to see this brand new change.
Within the bookstore, they had boxes and shelves filled with merchandise containing the old logo. This prompted a few questions about where all of the overflowing amounts of gear would go?
Senior Meagan O’Brien has been working in the bookstore at the Student Center on campus since her freshman year. As a team lead, Meagan has a big responsibility with this new merchandise.
“When I first heard the news about the new logo, I began to mark down items, such as sweatshirts, shirts, hats, and phone products,” said O’Brien. “I then went to social media to share the news of the sale items in the bookstore.”
Hoping to gain traction and get some of the old merchandise off of their hands, they succeeded by selling almost everything they needed to. There was only a handful of gear left so the staff took it upon themselves to mark out the items and donate them to different Curry organizations on campus.
“It took a while for the gear with the new logo to come in; it was a slow process being about one new product each week coming into stock,” said O’Brien. “We are very organized so we kept up with making the store look nice and filled with merchandise.”
The major price drops on the gear in the bookstore prompted many students and families to purchase these items, but will this resort to major profit loss within the bookstore?
“Profit was not on our minds during these changes,” said O’Brien. “So putting these items on sale made it easier for the community to access this Curry College gear, and donating it to organizations on campus was profit enough.”
Senior Erin Danielson, who just recently started working in the bookstore as an employee, said being there for the changeover has been exciting.
“I have been going to the bookstore since I was a freshman, now being a senior and working there I get to experience the other side of the dynamic,” said Danielson. “It was cool to see the new logo changes within the bookstore and how our college has evolved so much over my time here.”
You can now purchase sweatshirts, pants, shirts, hats, and much more gear with the new Curry College logo in the bookstore located in the Student Center!
