Curry’s Women Basketball team is standing at 4-8 for the season as of this writing, with a recent win over Wentworth, 63-47, a hopeful sign they can turn things around in the Spring semester. Adding to their roster is a transfer student who has come to Curry over the winter break.

Lauren Reen is a point guard from Norwood, MA and has been playing basketball her whole life.

“I’m the youngest of six who all played basketball so I was always in the gym,” said Reen.

Reen decided to transfer to Curry from the University of Rhode Island saying Curry was a better fit for her. She met with coach, Joe Reedy, and fell in love with the campus and team.

“The second I got to campus I felt at ease like it was where I belong,” said Reen. “A huge plus is that it is close to home!”

Since Lauren was not enrolled for the fall 2024 semester she had to wait until December 31st to officially join the team. So far she’s played in two games.

She adds that the biggest struggle will be catching up because she is walking onto a team that is already formed and has practiced and played together.

“I am excited for the challenge. I know it will take time to adjust but I know it will all be worth it,” said Reen. “I am extremely excited to get going with the team and begin classes as an Exercise Science major.”

Coach Joe Reedy is also enthusiastic about adding Reen to the roster.

“She is a tough, gritty player that can impact the game on both sides of the ball,” said Reedy. “Excited to see her growth in the program!”

Be sure to cheer on Lauren and the rest of the Women’s basketball team this winter as they hope to have a great season this year.

“Come see us play in the second semester to get an idea of what Curry Women’s Basketball is all about,” said Reedy.

The team is at the University of Hartford on Saturday January 11th and the next home game is the University of New England on Wednesday, January 15th.
