Pop star, Jesse McCartney, best known for the smash hits “Beautiful Soul” and “Leavin'” will headline Spring Week activities in April on campus.

Recently, Curry College revealed the 2025 Spring Week schedule for mid-April. Named “Curry Calling”, after the music festival Boston Calling, both the week and the weekend have several big events, including a Condom Casino night to promote sexual wellness, a Drag Show, and even a concert featuring singer Jesse McCartney.

Pat Kelley, the Director of Student Engagement mentions he, along with Student Activities, has been actively planning each event.

“I serve as the advisor for Student Entertainment and Events (SEE), and I have been closely involved with the team in planning Spring Week,” Kelley said. “Spring Week is the largest event planning initiative of the academic year, and it truly takes a village to create programming that meets the diverse needs of every student on campus.”

Kelley also says that after voting on a musical theme during the fall semester, getting Jesse McCartney to perform was the next challenge.

“We’ve been working with Jesse’s team on contract negotiations since December, and we were able to finalize everything this month,” Kelley said. “In partnership with the company Degy, who acted as the intermediary, we were able to successfully negotiate the contract for Jesse.”

His concert is scheduled for April 26th at 8:00 p.m. in the Katz Gymnasium.

Students across campus are already excited about Spring Week. Senior Criminal Justice major Haley Carlton is particularly looking forward to the concert.

“I’ve seen that Jesse McCartney was coming which is pretty cool for Curry,” Carlton said. “We haven’t really had a performance like that so it’s pretty cool.”

In addition to McCartney’s performance, Kelley also says Lisa Bello, a Curry alum from the class of 2004, and proud member of the Softball Hall of Fame will also be performing.

“Over the years, she has graced our Senior class events with her performances, including a standout show during last August’s Purple Pride Week,” Kelley said. “As an R&B singer-songwriter, she captivates audiences with her unique blend of soul, swagger, and profound emotion in every performance.”

In addition to McCartney, other events are planned as well from April 22nd to April 26th. Head to SEE’s Instagram page for a link and full details.

While Kelley has been the main person leading the charge in planning the events, several students have also contributed. Ava Andreoli, a senior Communication major, and the President of SEE, mentions she played a large role in changing “Spring Weekend”, to “Spring Week”.

“Last year, we began having Spring Weekend start during the week and changed the name to “Spring Week,” which allows for different clubs and departments to potentially host an event for the day leading up to Spring Saturday (formally called Spring Weekend),” Andreoli said. “Not only does it give the students more events to look forward to, but it also allows for different clubs, organizations, and departments to also get involved with the student body and make a name for themselves as well.”

Other students are hoping this work will promote more community involvement. Nicole (Nikki) Schindler, a junior Early Education and Care major, also the Secretary of SEE, anticipates the week helping Curry community members become more engaged.

“I think Spring Week will impact the Curry community in a positive way bringing everyone together through different events throughout the week,” Schindler said.
