According to a new report by Safewise, Milton, Massachusetts, home of Curry College, is the safest college town in America.
The report used the most recently available FBI statistics, and looked at communities with a population of 15,000 people or more, that also had a four-year degree granting college in its community.
Milton came out on top with a violent crime rate of 0.4 and property crime of 2.2 per 1000. This was much lower than the national statistics of violent crime rate at 3.7 and property crime of 21.2 per 1000.
Massachusetts did best overall in the report, with 10 communities in the top 50.
The report looked at 422 cities and towns in this year’s statistics.
Alexandria, Louisiana, home of Louisiana State University, was listed as the most dangerous college town in America, with a 15.7 violent crime rate and a 89.6 property crime rate per 1000.
