The “Curry Commitment” is a new program at Curry, and the first in Massachusetts, that is now being implemented by the Career and Experiential Learning Center to not only be a ‘job guarantee program,’ but it is also expected to provide much more than that. The deadline for current First Year and Sophomore students to “opt in” to the guarantee is February 3rd, via Handshake.

Brand new Executive Director of Career and Experiential Learning, Tamara Menghi, said the goals of the job guarantee is to make the Curry degree one of the best in the state.

“The four-year career readiness program prepares students to enter the workforce seamlessly after graduation by integrating career readiness programming and experiential learning opportunities into the undergraduate experience,” said Menghi.

The outline of this program makes it filled with opportunity, as it will also be able to offer different options to students.

Details from the Guarantee are noted on the website:

Curry Commitment Program participants without full-time or part-time employment related to their degree or enrollment in graduate study, military service, or service opportunity by the sixth month following the participant’s graduation from undergraduate studies at Curry College, are elgible. They’ll qualify for one of the following:

a. Internship: Curry College will work to secure a paid internship for up to 12 months from a business, governmental entity, or nonprofit entity.
b. Federal Student Loan Repayment Reimbursement: Curry College will reimburse monthly payments of Federal Direct Subsidized and/or Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans for up to a year or until the recent graduate finds employment or enrolls in a graduate program, military service, or service opportunity.
c. Tuition Waiver for six credits: If accepted, participants will be granted a tuition waiver for up to six (6) graduate credits at Curry College.

The Curry Commitment Program is now starting up fully this Spring semester.

“Interested students in the class of 2027 and 2028 will be able to opt in to the program through an agreement form and will be provided the list of programmatic offerings they will be expected to complete in the spring 2025,” said Menghi. “Individuals in the program will be expected to maintain a 2.8 GPA throughout their full four years at Curry College.”

For Menghi, her experience at Curry has been very positive as she navigates her first few months since her arrival.

“Having been at a larger college in a city setting prior to Curry, I’ve been struck by the close-knit, welcoming environment that a small college provides,” said Menghi. “One of the aspects I’ve appreciated most is how easy it is to get to know people across all levels of the community—students, faculty, and staff alike. This sense of connection fosters a collaborative
environment where everyone can be engaged.”

Menghi is a very enthusiastic, smart, and friendly staff member added to our community, so feel free to stop by her office, LCOM S-105, to get more information!

“It’s an incredibly exciting time to be at Curry, with the new strategic plan paving the way for innovation and growth,” said Menghi. “I’m particularly inspired by the college’s focus on integrating career readiness competencies into the classroom and beyond, ensuring students are well-prepared for their futures.”

Menghi said students have already shown enthusiasm for the Job Guarantee.

“I have already started meeting students informally and in appointments and have loved each interaction,” said Menghi. “I am looking forward to the spring, where I will get to engage with more of the student body in the classroom, workshops, presentations, the Career & Internship Fair on April 2, 2025 and more.”

Elegible students are encouraged to sign the opt-in form, via Handshake, by the deadline, February 3rd.
