In a campus-wide email sent July 29th, Curry president, Jay Gonzalez, announced the passing of Graham, the campus service dog. He died of cancer at the young age of just two and half.

Over those short years, Graham provided thousands of students, staff, faculty and visitors to Curry’s campus with smiles, hugs, and a reassurance that even though you were away from home, Graham would be there to keep you company.

Graham was there through hundreds of events, including the inauguration of our president, athletic events, honor society inductions, dinner gatherings, residence hall parties, and graduation.

In his email to the community, President Gonzalez praised Graham’s ability to connect to everyone.

“Graham had an extraordinary ability to brighten every room he entered. He welcomed new students and their families during move-in, charmed prospective students and parents on campus tours, and celebrated graduates each year with his signature warmth and wagging tail at Commencement,” said Gonzalez.

Gonzalez added, “Since arriving on campus, Graham became much more than the College’s comfort dog. He served as a source of emotional support during challenging moments, celebrated milestones alongside students, and created countless opportunities for connection across campus. His gentle nature and joyful spirit embodied the sense of community that defines Curry College.”

Tributes have been pouring in to a Memory Wall set up by the college to memorialize this special dog. Support is being offered to students and others by the Curry Counseling office, as well.

“In lieu of flowers, donations in Graham’s memory may be made to support student wellness and support services at Curry College,” said Gonzalez.
