Foraging for Food at Legacy

BY BRANDAN BLOM // OCT. 5, 2012 //

By now, almost everyone living on campus is sick of the same Curry food day after day. It has become old and a bit boring.

Qdoba is a popular place to eat at Legacy Place. // WWW.QDOBA.COM //

There are solutions to this problem, even for those without a car.

Every Saturday night a shuttle takes Curry students from the Student Center to Legacy Place in Dedham. There, you can find a variety of affordable restaurants to choose from—from Chinese to standard American food. There is also a J.P. Licks ice cream shop if you’re just looking for a quick dessert.

I would recommend trying Qdoba Mexican Grill, which features typical Mexican items like burritos and quesadillas. But it has other options, too, like create-your-own breakfast wraps with the choice of eggs, potatoes, roasted chili corn, mango salsa, shredded cheese, sour cream and more. They also offer a “Craft Two” deal for which you can choose between tacos and rice bowls, burritos and nachos, or quesadillas and black beans.

If you’re not in the mood for Mexican, you can try b.good. It’s a local favorite that serves burgers, sandwiches, salads and shakes. If you’re in the mood for a good burger, you can choose from a list of five, including the buffalo burger. It comes with buffalo sauce, blue cheese, lettuce and tomato for just $6.49. Then there’s the Adopted Luke burger. This comes topped with mushrooms, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese and homemade barbeque sauce. It’s also only $6.49.

Want a healthy alternative? Try the avocado and orange salad, which comes with Boston lettuce, radicchio, orange, avocado, pistachios, goat cheese, and lemon-mint vinaigrette—all for $7.59. You can also try the hatchback salad, which comes with baby spinach, sharp cheddar, apples, sweet potatoes, toasted pecans, dried cherries, and maple-mustard vinaigrette.

In all, there are 11 different restaurants at Legacy Place, including au bon pain, P.F. Chang’s, Wicked (great pizzas) and genki (sushi). So, give yourself a break from Curry pizza slices, deli sandwiches and the tired old salad bar. There are a lot of good food options close to campus that will leave your stomach full and happy.
